Today, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and the FIT Foundation announced The Great Fashion Trivia Night, a virtual event being held on July 23 in celebration of fashion, social justice and the power of voting and using your voice. The event is open to the public; tickets are now available, with proceeds benefiting both the HRC Foundation and the FIT Foundation.
“Being a committed changemaker never goes out of style,” said HRC President Alphonso David. “We are excited to partner with the FIT Foundation for a fun and engaging evening celebrating style, community and our own power to advance equality. Our fashion should always make a statement about who we are and who we want to be. We hope you will join us as we lift up the power of fashion, social justice and civic engagement to imagine – and create – a more equal future.”
“We are so very pleased to hold this event to raise critical funds for both FIT and the HRC Foundation, and to raise awareness around diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that support the LGBTQ community and civil rights,” said FIT President Dr. Joyce F. Brown. “As both a community and a country, we are living through a pivotal moment in history. The urgency of this moment requires that we act quickly, but also that we do everything in our power to effect lasting social change.”
Hosted by Derek Blasberg, YouTube’s Head of Fashion and Beauty, the event will feature a glamorous roster of speakers and quiz masters, including HRC President Alphonso David, FIT President Dr. Joyce F. Brown, Veronica Webb, Jeffrey Banks, Fern Mallis, Debra Messing, Vanessa Williams, Tan France, James Turlington, Alton Mason, Hari Nef, Jacob Bixenman, Halima Aden and Ke’Andra Simone. The event will test participants’ knowledge of pop culture, iconic fashion moments, the LGBTQ movement, and the importance of civic engagement. An array of prizes will be awarded, including stunning pieces from celebrated American jewelry designer David Yurman.
