Chi Chi DeVayne, RuPaul’s Drag Race season eight sweetheart who graced our screens again in All Stars 3, shocked us all last week when she revealed she had been struggling with her health during COVID-19.
Chi Chi, who stole our hearts through thrifty fashion and southern bell banter, updated us on her health complications she’s been having throughout this pandemic.
She took to the stage (or in this case, Instagram story) and revealed that she had been having trouble with her “breathing,” and “high blood pressure,” and although it was on everyone’s mind, she has tested negative for COVID-19.
These symptoms could indeed be the result of a kidney failure, which is yet to be confirmed.
From this, we have seen a bundle of queens reach out in order to support and help Chi Chi in this difficult time, including Trixie Mattel, Darienne Lake and The Vixen.
Even World Of Wonder, production company and creators of RuPaul’s Drag Race, have posted on Instagram, informing the fans of Chi Chi’s health complications and ways in which we, as a community, can help her through.
It’s clear that the pandemic has altered all of the amazing events 2020 had to offer, with a shift from live stage to Instagram live. For many queens, kings and queer performers out there, whose livelihood depends on the stage, this shift has hit catastrophically.
I love LOVE this woman and we should honestly be Venmo’ing her daily for the fun of it business as usual. https://t.co/ClOQUQEyKl
